Welcome to DLINQ’s New Instructional Designers!

led lights spelling the word Hola

We are excited to announce the addition of two instructional designers to the DLINQ team! Based at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies campus in Monterey, Dr. Jeni Henrickson and Luke Phelan will join Vermont-based Instructional Designers Dr. Sonja Burrows and Heather Stafford, and Daniel Houghton, Animation Studio Producer, in the Digital Pedagogy and Media group. Led by Dr. Sarah Lohnes Watulak, the Digital Pedagogy and Media group works with faculty and students across the institution to explore how digital technology can support transformative learning in face to face, hybrid, and online learning environments.

Jeni and Luke each bring extensive experience supporting faculty and students in developing and implementing digital learning. Jeni spent several years as Creative Director for the Learning Technologies Media Lab at the University of Minnesota, where she was responsible for a range of tasks including providing creative direction and project management for the design and development of more than a dozen innovative online learning experiences and technologies. A PhD in Education/Learning Technologies from the University of Minnesota, Jeni has designed and taught hybrid and online courses for undergraduate and graduate students.

Most recently an Instructional Technologist at Trinity College (Hartford, CT), Luke has also worked with the Blended Learning Initiative for the Five College Consortium (Amherst, MA), where he partnered with faculty and staff from the five campuses to design, develop, implement, and evaluate digital teaching and learning projects, as well as the MIT OpenCourseWare Initiative. An MFA in English from UMass Amherst, Luke has also taught college writing courses. Luke’s interests include critical digital literacies, digital scholarship, creating rich and effective media, iterative project management, and simulations and games.

The addition of Jeni and Luke to our team increases our capacity to partner with faculty and students across the institution on a range of projects large and small, in support of Middlebury’s strategic directions. Jeni’s first day was Monday, September 30, and Luke will join us in November. We look forward to working with them and can’t wait for you to meet them!
