Google’s NotebookLM
NotebookLM has added to its Studio features with two new media creation options: Infographics and Slide Decks.
- Infographics: Generate visual summaries of your source material.
- Slide Decks: Create complete presentations.
Important Considerations:
- Editing Limitations: Note that generated content, once created, is not easily editable. Slide decks, for instance, are currently downloadable only as a PDF.

Audio overviews, video overviews, flashcards, quizzes, infographics, and slide decks all now allow you to tweak the generation prompt to better control what gets created. This is also a good place to deal with pronunciation issues. To modify the prompts, click on the pencil icon on the right-hand side of the button and make your changes prior to generating the content.
Nano Banana Image Model
Google’s new Nano Banana model for image generation and editing has been released. It’s made impressive gains in creating realistic images and producing legible text. You can see the impact of those changes in the infographics that NotebookLM is now able to create as well as when you’re creating images in Gemini.
Images created by Nano Banana are tagged with the new SynthID watermark. It is not visible to the human eye, but it can be technically identified. While such watermarking technology is far from foolproof, it represents an attempt to address the proliferation of misinformation and deepfakes as AI models continue to improve in realism.
For those looking for a more human-centered evaluation process, Mike Caulfield has updated the SIFT information evaluation framework to deal more specifically with AI. Frameworks like SIFT are becoming increasingly important as bad actors use advanced AI tools to create sophisticated multimedia attacks to undermine governments and influence individuals.
