Privacy
It’s hard to tell from the advertisement, but the washer/dryer will let you know over your various devices when you laundry is ready. It is also voice activated. So, it needs to interface with whatever device you wish. It’s clearly listening…if it’s able to hear questions.
Tradeoffs
- If the machine really does perform as specified, it is environmentally friendly, and clothing, towels, bedding will last longer from this type of cleaning.
- It saves human time, because laundry does not need to be reloaded into the dryer.
- It weighs the load and uses “fabric sensing” to determine how much water to use, etc.
- There do not appear to be overrides…if you wish to change the settings.
Final thoughts
Based on the online reviews of the washer/dryer combo, people generally love it and feel it has improved their lives and made doing laundry more satisfying.
I suspect I would not like it. I spent weeks looking for a washer that I could control the settings on, including having the ability to decide whether to fill it full (useful often, especially for tasks like dying fabric). There was only one available. I will be sad if we lose our agency over a simple thing like wash.
