Two of the major complaints that we hear about using Canvas is the limited control faculty have over the look and theme of the course, and the time it takes to configure and fill a course site. Although there is no shortcut to good course design, DesignPlus Tools are a course authoring toolset that can be utilized from within the Canvas interface to help address these challenges. The tools can provide additional design functionality to help improve the visual design, layout, and organization of your course pages, as well as make course development more efficient and accessible.
FORMAT
This is a flipped online workshop requiring some preparatory steps prior to the live session, followed by a live Zoom discussion. The video provides a quick overview of the 2-part workshop.

- Complete activities prior to the live session: We invite you to familiarize yourselves with the Design Tools interface, and practice using the Design Tools on a page in Canvas, prior to the June 22 live session.
- Instructions: to prepare for the live session, review the instructions in this Google Doc (login with your Middlebury credentials to view)
- Live session: The June 22 live session will provide an opportunity for open Q&A and discussion. The workshop facilitator will not be giving a presentation at that time. In order to get the most out of the live session, complete the asynchronous activities ahead of time.
