Digital Storytelling and StoryMaps Consult
Do you have a digital storytelling idea you want to talk through? Do you want to implement a digital storytelling or StoryMaps project in your class, but aren’t sure where to start? One-on-one consults are a great way to scope out a project, get help in choosing a tool, and learn how to best scaffold a project in your classroom.
DLINQ is also happy to offer classroom visits, both virtual and in-person, to help familiarize your students with the tool they’ll be using for their project. We can offer instruction on tools such as WordPress, ArcGIS StoryMaps, Pressbooks, and Scalar. We can also instruct students on digital storytelling best practices, including storyboarding and project planning.
Please note that if students miss a class visit, we will provide them with resources and asynchronous consultation if they have follow-up questions.
Assignment Redesign Consult
Do you have an assignment or assessment that is not working the way that you’d like it to? Do you want to revise an assignment to address AI (whether to incorporate it, and/or to resist it)?
Our instructional designers can be thought partners to help make assignments work better for your class. When you reach out for an assignment redesign consult, we’ll ask you to share your assignment and answer questions like:
- What are the challenges that you are facing with this assignment/assessment?
- Have you received any feedback and/or suggestions from students about the assignment/assessment?
- What’s one wish you have for this assignment?
We’ll provide suggestions for redesigning the assignment to address challenges and meet your course learning goals. We’ll also share support materials, draft assignment language, and grading/feedback strategies.
Canvas Site Glow-Up Consult
Are you tired of your Canvas sites looking like a website created in 1999? Would your students benefit from a Canvas site that was more organized and easier to navigate? Does this sound great, but you don’t have a lot of time to make it happen?
Meet with one of our instructional designers to discuss what is possible with your Canvas site given your classes’ unique needs. We’ll ask you questions like:
- What parts of your Canvas site would you like to revise and why?
- What are some of the challenges (or problems) that you have identified in your current site design?
- What feedback have you received from your students about your Canvas site?
- What’s one wish you have for your Canvas site?
We’ll prototype a redesigned site using the DesignPLUS tools, then follow up with a consultation to share the results, teach you how to maintain your new site, and answer any questions that you have.
Accessibility & Inclusive Design Review
Are you interested in exploring ways to make your course materials and design more accessible to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners? Our instructional designers can work with you to audit course materials and Canvas structure, or introduce you to specific tools for accessibility and inclusive design. The audit can include document review, alt text workflow, caption setup, color contrast check, or Universal Design for Learning (UDL) alignment across a syllabus or assignment sequence.
