Middlebury faculty have a strong tradition of incorporating experiential learning into their courses, connecting students to opportunities to put what they’re learning into practice in settings outside of the classroom. Through experiential learning, students gain awareness of critical issues in society, exposure to reflection and action, and connection with one another and communities, all of which are more important than ever. How might experiential learning unfold differently in fully online, or hybrid, courses? What do we need to attend to, as we intentionally design our online or hybrid courses to include experiential learning approaches?
This 75-minute session will provide an opportunity to hear a panel of faculty and staff from Middlebury College and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies discuss approaches for building experiential learning into hybrid and online courses, as well as hands-on time in small groups to workshop your ideas for integrating experiential learning into your fall courses.
If you have a syllabus, assignment, or idea that you’d like to work on during the session, we encourage you to send it before the session to: Jessica Teets (jteets AT middlebury DOT edu), Amy McGlashan (agibansm AT middlebury DOT edu), and Netta Avineri (navineri AT miis DOT edu).
